Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Quite as Advertised I have used Fischer Sleeve anchors before and know that they are excellent fixings and hold strongly. I ordered the Fischer FSA Sleeve Anchors Silver 10 x 95mm M8 20 Pack (66010). My wife kindly collected them for me as I was in the middle of a job. When she returned with them I thought she had been given the wrong ones as the box clearly states 10 x 85mm even though it has the screwfix code (66010) on it. I had to use them on the job I was doing and hope the missing 10mm doesn't cause a problem.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from you get what you pay for low cost which showed. Didn't perform as well as some similar fixings that I had previously used

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Couldn't get to grips with These feel strong and look quality, however I only realised once home that Screwfix had stuck a label over the instructions so had to work out the right depth. Compared to a traditional sleeve cannot these just seemed a pain - the bit on the end got lost and I struggled to get a grip.

Plasterboard on concrete block ?

Would this type of fixing be suitable for hanging heavy workshop wall cabinets on a dot and dabbed plasterboard on concrete block ?
Asked by: F1ATB
Assuming 12.5mm plasterboard + 12.5mm gap + 5mm thick bracket, would allow 90mm into the block. Tests show that the FSA 10 with 10mm embedment can hold up to 150kgs if fixed directly back to 7.3N/mm^2 concrete block with 50mm embedment. The fixing may be too long as it may cause you to drill right through the block.

Fixing for heavy shaving cabinet

Can anyone help please? I need to fix a heavy shaving cabinet to a tiled wall which has plasterboard behind it. There will be 6 fixings on the top 2 brackets and 4 below the cabinet. Can anyone suggest the best wall anchors to use?
Asked by: notfatboy
Thanks for your enquiry, We would need a bit more information, really. If it is a solid wall behind the plasterboard & no gap then the FSA would do, however if you only have a cavity wall then we would have to consider other options, such as an HM cavity anchor. Please contact the fischer Technical department via the web site. Regards Technical

Are these bolts suitable for exterior use, such as mounting security lights?

Asked by: shodan
The FSA anchors are 'bright zinc plate' and not stainless steel. Zinc plate would not last long outside and one marked 'stainless steel' would be recommended. You could use the fischer SX10 plug (Screwfix no.71996) and a stainless steel Ø10mm coach screw (like Screwfix no. 60360). This will hold up to 70kgs per fixing into brick. Ensure the screw is long enough to go right through the plug by at least 5mm.

Are these suitable for external use

Asked by: James2709
Unless the FSA is protected by a bitumastic paint they are not suitable, stainless fixings should really be used for external applications. Regards Technical.

What is the shear strength of the bolt?

I am installing a floor and I will need a number of these fixings to carry the load in shear. I would imagine they are about 300N/mm2 ?
Asked by: StructuralEngineer
Thank you for your question, We assume that you are fixing into brickwork. The FSA 12/50 will give you in the region of 1.0 -1.5kN in shear per fixing per brick but it will depend on the strength of the brick and mortar. Regards Technical.
