Rated 1 out of 5 by Leaky leaky leaky It leaked soone after install and soaked the b carpet and chipboard flooring. I fixed it by tightening top cover. Later the boiler needed fixing and this device had to be removed. British Gas engineer didn't even bother trying to refit it and installed his own solid brass one instead. He says they always ALWAYS leak and he couldn't be asked to fiddle with it or risk water damage after he left. That was his experience of the device... 15 Jan 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fernox TF1 Fitted several of these devices on both new boiler installs and retrofits on existing boilers. Having revisited some of them for later servicing, have noted continual collection of sludge and evidence that residual layer of sludgey water in radiators does clear to clean water. These devices are a must have for all combi boilers and those fitted with coiled stainless steel heat exchangers. I have had no issues with leaks from seals or valves. 10 Apr 2014

Answer:
Hello Winehouse.

If you have a sealed system, you can place the TF1 anywhere, however if you have an open vented system, the TF1 must be placed after the header tank.

The best place for a TF1 is ideally on the return pipework to the boiler, as this is were it will be most effective. Please also remember leave 150mm above the TF1 so you can easily remove the magnet whilst servicing.

Hope this helps.
