Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes building a frame easy The pack I bought came with the drill bit needed for the screws as well as a good quantity for the decking frame I was building. No pre-drilling needed and they drive very smoothly without any damage to the wood. I was using a battery drill and this had enough power to drive the screws all the way in (they're LONG!) so no difficulty on that account. As for strength, the decking I built has been up over a year now and is still standing strong. These screws made the job much easier than expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product After pre-drilling pilot holes the bolts were very easy to insert using drill, final tightening was via wrench. The frame constructed was very stable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for fixing sleepers Great product - just the right thing when used to fix sleepers for raised flower beds. Supplied with drill attachment making it easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for connecting sleepers we used timberlocks for connecting sleepers. The screws are of high quality and screwed directly into the softwood sleeper without need of pilot holes. We used a Titan 40nm drill which had sufficient torque to screw all the way into the wood. Our other drill which is only 20nm torque could only get the screw in about 2/3rds. The timbrrlocks are a little expensive but as they made the job easier and are a high quality product I feel the extra expense is worth it. You can really feel them grip the wood as it goes In and we will use these again.

Will these work with new green oak sleepers?

Can these go straight in or is a pilot hole needed?
Asked by: jdrdiy
Hello jdrdiy, Thank you for your question. With a good quality 750W power drill and 1/2" chuck, you will have no trouble drilling these straight into your sleepers. If you have a lower power drill or less powerful cordless, you may find a pilot hole an advantage to assist the drill.

Can you use these with an angle bracket?

I'm screwing together sleepers for a raised flower bed. Thanks.
Asked by: Neil7
Hello Neil7, Thank you for your question. The Timberlok range is designed as a timber to timber fixing and will self-countersink into the sleepers. We recommend fixing the sleepers to each other directly with our longer Timberlok screws (also available from Screwfix) and avoiding using brackets, this should leave you with a cleaner and more natural look.

Are these suitable for use in Green Oak?

I know that usually stainless steel or brass is recommended for use in Oak as the sap can corrode steel. But are TimberLok (and HeadLok) suitable?
Asked by: Jez78
Hello Jez78, thank you for your question. Timberlok and Headlok screws are coated in a proprietary black solution by a very specific multi-step process that gives them a very high corrosion resistance, even in green oak. The final layer, a clear top coat, also serves as a lubricating layer to assist you in driving them into harder timbers.
