Evolution RAGE 7-S 80mm 710W Jigsaw 230V
I brought this jig saw on a bit of a whim as it was in the sale and I happened to be in the local store buying other goods.
My Makita has not been up to a job I was doing recently so thought a more powerful one would be a good idea.
The good points are, the pendulum action, the blow facility that can be switched on and off so the line of cut is visible, the laser light guide and the the no tool blade change.
It also comes with a guide bar and a clear chip plate to go into the bottom plate, as well as a dust extractor tube that comes out of the back.
The not so good points to my mind are, the flimsy snap on snap off guard on the front, the awkward clip to fit on the front to secure the guide bar. The movement of the plastic cover that goes on the bottom plate, the movement of the bottom plate that is secured by an allen key that only just reaches and although tight only just secured the movement. Lots of bits, i.e. blades, inserts, allen key, guide bar, spare brushes and book with no carry case.
All this discovered as I was getting it out of the box!!!
Haven't had the opportunity to put it to the real test yet so will reserve judgement until then, hence the average rating.

Not a great product!
I purchased this jigsaw because it gave me the option of cutting upto 80mm which was perfect as I wanted to cut joists that were 75mm in thickness.....however there was just one problem with the jigsaw, and that was that it doesn't like to cut a straight line. It would be perfect if all I wanted to do was cut angles all day but I don't.
This jigsaw has a lot of additional features which should be a plus and is certainly a selling point.
Unfortunately I will be returning this product.

Not a product I normally use, so after doing some extensive research online the Evolution appeared to give the best money vs performance. And, having now used it it really stands up to the other reviews.I made a good choice

A serious contendor
My requirements were an easy to use, reliable and affordable jig saw. The Evolution jig saw hits the mark on all three.
The saw feels solid and appears to be well built. The only reason that I have not given it 5 stars for reliability is that I have only had it a short time and although used it quite extensively feel that as it is relatively new a 5 star review could be be misleading.
Worth considering even if you are happy to pay £100+ for better known brands.
