Evolution RAGE 3DB 255mm Double Bevel Sliding Mitre Saw 230V (29848)

The 230V Evolution RAGE3-DB double-bevel sliding mitre saw is a heavy duty, versatile tool. It comes with a 28-tooth TCT blade, allowing you to make fine cuts even in nail-embedded wood. The double-bevel facility extends to 45° both left and right, so you won’t need to keep adjusting your workpiece. The AC laser cutting guide makes it easy to see exactly where the blade is directed, while a dust extraction facility keeps your workspace clear of debris. Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent, at a price If you're after a decent compound mitre saw you can't go too far wrong with this, providing you don't mind splashing out the cash. It's a solid, heavy duty bit of kit; once properly set up, it's not going to need much adjustment and will stay true. The instruction manuals are pretty uninspiring; you'll need two different manuals to get it fully set up, and then you may find you have bits left over due to the ambiguity, and will have to work out where they go. This could be improved. Features wise, the highlights are the slider, which runs smooth and true, the double bevel, and the laser. Part of the guide is removable, which saves you accidentally cutting through it at certain complex angles. The laser pointer is useful (once set up properly) but note that it's not highly visible in outdoor lighting. Should be fine in a workshop though. I was particularly impressed by the blade; I used mine to chop a pile of 2x4" roof timbers into firewood, which was shot through with nails, and the blade went through them like butter. Obviously cutting through nails isn't ideal, but if you have no option, they don't seem to damage the blade in the slightest. All in all this is a decent, professional grade bit of kit which should last well. I've only given an average 3* for reliability, as you can't make an accurate judgement until you've had these things for years, but I don't anticipate any problems at all. 26 Oct 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by 255mm 3DB All bolts need to be checked & tightened before use. Full cut when slotting with depth stop is not possible without packing between the fence and work piece. Other wise a reasonable tool for the price - so far. 22 Jun 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Compound Mitre Saw Bought this mitre saw for small light jobs. The first thing I had to do was set up the saw angles and back fence with the blade. The blade was out of line with the table, after calling the technical department who were very helpful, I was able to line the blade to the table by 1 deg. It cuts angle iron like butter, but be aware it does slightly blunt the blade when going back to wood. It's not a professional mitre saw like a Dewalt, but does the job. Can't comment on the reliability as not had it long enough. I do recommend this product, but has to be set up out of the box. 15 Feb 2015
