Rated 3 out of 5 by from good drill poor chuck After reading all the glowing reviews of this drill I went out and bought one . It took a couple of uses to realise there was a major flaw with the chuck which has been badly designed - it has a VERY thin tightening bezel (look at the picture and it is the thin band at the back of the chuck) which means I often need long nose pliers to release the drill bit if I have been using for some time . The chuck also frequently comes loose , so I am always having to sop and retighten . Drill itself is powerful and well weighted and seems to go through everything I throw at it - such a shame about the chuck . I would suggest you insist on trying it before you buy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Drill Used this drill for first time today and very pleased with it, how easy it went through brick/cement fixing posts to a wall for garden gates,in built spirit level is bonus point as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless chuck Bought the drill yesterday and attempted to drill holes in a concrete lintel to affix some curtain rod brackets. The chuck did not lock tight enough to hold the bit firmly when under pressure. Thinking my bits may be blunt I went out and bought two new ones. No change! Under pressure the bits would not turn because the chuck would not hold them tightly enough. The drill is going back as soon as I can get the time to return it as it is not fit for purpose. Shame really as it is quite powerful and well designed except of course for the chuck. First time with an Erbauer and won't buy anything else of that brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good drill for the money Bought in May and so far proved reliable as a replacement for an old black and decker 650W with torque control. The chuck tends to loosen when using 3mm and 4mm masonry bits on the hammer setting. Solved by tightening with water pump pliers over leather. Check manually that the chuck lock has disengaged before applying power. Very pleased with this item so far.

does this drill have a switch to change to hammer drill for masonry?

Asked by: brutus2201
Hi, Yes it does; it is the switch on the top just behind where the silver metal gearbox case meets the blue plastic body. It is pushed from side to side to turn the hammer function on and off. I hope this information is of help to you.
