Im always using makita routers at work and needed and extra router for the workshop at home as multishaping edges having two makes it alot easier and saw this at a good price so gave it a shot and was plesantly pleased its a case of you pay for what you get want a professional job pay 300+ for makita but to get the job done this is fine i now use it at work as well and the lads all use to just alittle heavy for detailing but thats a minor overall great bit of kit

i bought this router a few weeks ago to use as a (heavy use) diy tool. it is quite light but i don't use it freehand, unfortunetly the down sides out weigh the up sides, it works up to 36000rpm but has no soft start, perhaps they think its not needed on a 1/4 incher.
The depth lock vibrated loose often so must be checked often when in use. The on/off switch is the dead-man type and had a stiff spring so your hand aches after a short period. it chatters a bit too and i was only routing ply. but on the plus side it seems reliable and gutsy, just as well really as otherwise it wouldn't be worth the price. the fence guide isn't very stable either, i had to buy a straight edge which made things easier
pay the extra £50 and buy the bigger version. the features seem better.
