Erbauer ERB380ROU 2100W Router 230-240V
Great bit of kit
I have used a whole range of routers from basic to top of the range in the past. I took a chance on this one because of the reviews and two because of the price..........and I can confirm that it is a great bit of kit, compariable to the top brands in my opinion. It also comes with a 2 year warranty just for peace of mind on reliability. Very pleased with my purchase and I will look favourably on the Erbauer range in the future.

Good router, but inaccurate
Annoying I bought this when it was £149. It's £99 while I'm writing this and was £99 last year, hence the 3 stars for value.
It's the first router I've used so I'm no expert. It feels heavy and solid and well made.
The soft start is nice and seems to route well. It feels fast and powerful.
If I clamp a guide and run the edge of the round base along this, it works really well.
The 30mm guide bush though doesn't fit snugly into the base - it wobbles so is almost impossible to get it centred. Also, when you plunge, then lock, it only locks on the left side, so it nudges up by about 1mm on the right and so tilts very slightly. So when plunged there's slight play making a straight bit be very slightly off vertical. The bit nudging up by 1mm or so can be fixed by the fine depth adjustment, but it still feels it could be off vertical - I haven't measured carefully though to check this. It's either this nudging or the guide not being centred which causes the cut edge on the right to be 8mm from the template and 9mm from the template on the left...so it's not ultra-accurate.
Also, the screws heads for the 30mm guide bush stood proud of the base. This meant they'd scrape along the work surface. So I had to run a large metal drill around the holes on the bush to enlarge the countersink.
I also wish they'd threaded the metal the guide bush bolts go though, instead you've to fiddle with small nuts...
The case it comes in is very large and has someone has pointed out, it doesn't fit in the case the 30mm bush attached. The instructions are poor - I had a go, but have no idea how to use the guide fence thing - so that's untested.
Changing bits works nice with the push button spindle lock. When removing a bit, you have to loosen it with the spanner, then your fingers until it stops, then use the spanner again, then the bit will come out.

Cheap for a reason
I bought this router as I've found other Erbauer products to be 'reasonable' quality for the price. This router however is an exception. To be honest, I didn't even use it. After removing from the box and checking it starts (which it did with a nice soft start), I was enthusiastic to test it. After setting up in the jig, I set the depth and locked the plunge. However I noticed considerable movement / play in the plungers which meant the cutter was free to move by 2-3mm. After spending 5 minutes trying to rectify, I packed it back into the box and returned pronto. I hate to think of what my worktops would have looked like.... A complete waste of a morning, but thankfully worktops still intact

Bought this to replace defective 30 year old Elu router. Modern design and materials certainly make a difference. Soft start and lightness make it easy to handle and with adequate power safer to use.
