Rated 5 out of 5 by Best paint I have ever used What excellent paint. Goes on really easily and I use those cheap Harris brushes that are a fiver for a box of five. Virtually no paint smell. Brushes wash easily under the tap. No white spirit needed. Spills just wipe off with a damp cloth. Really bright gloss finish. Can't fault it. 16 Apr 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not so brilliant white? This paint goes on well, and it certainly looks brilliant white. However, after having used almost the full tin, I noticed some small-print on the side of the tin: "Whilst leading-edge technology has been used in the development of this product, the nature of white solvent-based paints means that they will all discolour over time. The rate of discolouration is faster on areas with no or low natural or UV light. For longer lasting whiteness, we recommend the use of a water-based formulation such as Dulux Trade Quick Dry Gloss." You might therefore want to check out the pros and cons of solvent-based versus water-based paints before buying this. I think that this information should be more prominent on the Screwfix site (although someone has asked about discolouration in the Q&A section). Next time, I'll read the label before using the entire tin... 25 Mar 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Awful! Yellow after 2 months! Awful paint! Application was fantastic, if not time consuming, but beautifully white...... But just 6 months later I've been forced to repaint my entire staircase! Used water based on doors and skirting a etc but wanted a more durable finish for spindles, handrail etc so thought it best to use this! How wrong I was! Yellowed after a couple of months and was forced to repaint over this weekend as it had gotten so bad! Picture of paint can next to my water based wood work, the dripped gloss has turned yellow! This gloss is unfit for purpose and I promise you, you'll need to re paint your hard work within 6 months! Entire weekend wasted but I now have a lovely hallway again with fantastic results from Leyland acrylic undercoat topped off with Leyland fast drying gloss. Dulux is banned from my house! 14 Dec 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top Gloss! I hate glossing, but this paint does a great job and takes quite a bit of the pain away. Easy to spread and great and very durable finish. Top quality paint! Already on my second tin I was that impressed. 6 Nov 2015

I have read online that low VOC oilbased white paints yellow very quickly in areas not exposed to sufficient daylight? All the rave reviews are about how easy the paint is to work with and have been put up recently but I want to know if its stayed white for years?

thanks

Answer:
The nature of all oil based products means that they will all discolour over time and the rate of discolouration is faster in areas with no or low levels of natural daylight. To achieve a more permanent whiteness a water based gloss would be recommended.

Answer:
Hi, our Dulux Trade High Gloss is a solvent based gloss. If you're looking to use a water based gloss the cans will say Quick Dry, such as our Dulux Trade Quick Dry Gloss.
