by TheGoodLife Didn't work for me
The product description says that this will perform straight and plunge cuts in....plastic up to 20mm thick. I purchased with the intention of cutting 6mm thick plastic, but sadly found this tool unsuitable.
The high rotation speed combined with the abrasive type cutting discs generates too much heat, melting the plastic.
I have to say, that I like the machine and I am sure it would be ideal for other materials, but it was not suitable for my project and will be returned.
No chance to assess reliability so please ignore score on that.

I bought this to accurately cut out karndean flooring and plywood layer underneath in water leak damaged area of a kitchen. Very good for the job. I also intend to use it for cutting kitchen ceramic tiles. I agree with some other reviews that this is not cheap and discs have a limited life. Replacements are expensive. If you want to achieve a quality finish and avoid paying a pro then this will be a good buy but for regular or heavy use it may not be cost effective. One disappointment is that the disc that sits on the outside of the guard and allows an accurate flush cut is not included and is an expensive extra purchase. There is a selection box of replacement discs available which includes the flush cutter. It works out cheaper than buying them separately.

I have to review this saw as the only review on here very nearly put me off, as it probably has many others.
The other reviewer is a perfect example of someone that shouldn't be allowed near power tools and should pay for someone else to do the work for them.
I bought this as i needed a small blade to cut laminated MDF - the bathroom wall cladding type.
I was hoping this might cause less breakout / damage to the surface than any of my other saws. Thanks to the small blade and extremely high speed, this worked better than expected.
The construction of the saw is superb, much better than the pictures appear. The black blade housing and foot are actually metal, when they appear to be plastic.
The depth gauge works well and stays locked in place.
Cutting a straight line with this is simple, the saw blade and the cutting line are perfectly visible. Possibly more visible than either my Dewalt or Bosch skill saws. The blade marker on the front of the tool is also accurate.
The straight edge guide is solid and accurate. I haven't tried the 2 x 4 guide (and will probably never need to) but it should work OK. If your not cutting a straight line with this tool or the blade is jamming, then you are not using it properly. It has a fairly small blade, so any jerky hand movements will naturally cause a crooked line (same as using a jigsaw).
The motor is typical of Dremmel, it's well built and doesn't struggle unless your forcing it. The speed of the motor (17,000rpm) is impressive and creates a neat cut, but with a lot of fine dust - I haven't tested the vacuum attachment yet, hopefully it takes away the majority of it.
It's a shame that there's not a soft start on the motor as it can easily catch you off guard, but so long as you are aware when starting, its only a minor thing.
I bought this a few weeks ago for convenience on the one job, and since then i have used it for loft flooring, shelving units, rebuilding kitchen cupboards around box work, cutting sheet metal and ripping various MDF and plywood sheets. Definitely a good purchase. The blades seem to be lasting well, but as they are an original size it might be tricky or even expensive to get replacements in the future.
All in all, a well made little machine that has has already paid for itself.
