Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT TOOL!! what a great tool! this was used to unblock a sink waste that runs under my floor saving hours of messing about lifitng floor boards to find the blockage. It takes a bit of time but with some careful use i have pulled all sorts of rubbish from the pipe and the waste now flows freely. well recommended! 18 Mar 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Much better than expected Have a look on Youtube for explanations on how to use it, as the "instructions" don't actually tell you anything. Amazingly effective, you can easily get it around bends with light pressure whilst turning the handle. The spring length is good too - over seven metres. You unblock by pulling and pushing the whole thing, and can lock the spring using the turnbuckle (or just grip it near the collar). A bit overpriced? Better than chemicals. 11 Sep 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Saved an ear bashing from wife My sink was completely blocked and I had water sitting for 18 hours! After using a strong liquid drain unblocker, a plunger and removing and cleaning a dirty trap to no avail, I purchased this drain unblocker from Screwfix. Within 2 minutes of inserting and turning the handle I was through the blockage, cleaning up and reattaching the trap. Getting the end round a corner took a couple of attempts, but overall very simple to use and effective. I'm just a DIY'er, not a professional and this was extremely easy. Would 100% recommend. 7 Sep 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This Works!!! I had been messing around at weekends for a while now trying to sort out a slow draining external drain - to no effect. I looked on the internet for suitable tools. Saw this and wasn't sure as most of the reviews said they'd used it on smaller internal waste pipes. Well I thought it's not the end of the world if it doesn't work as it's not costing the earth. Surprise surprise - within a few minutes of sticking it down the outside drain and turning it a few times, I retrieved the biggest hair ball I've ever seen! Still a bit more to go at I think, but flow is already much better. Well worth buying. 4 Sep 2016

Hello TumTums,

Provided the blockage is not a solid build up, the item should remove any debris from the drain.

I hope this information helps.

we have no obvious blockage but a weak flush and dirty backflow over night. Tried the mop method and caustic soda but no better.
Think there may be a partial blockage just in the bend.

Answer:
The wire (actually a spring) has a head approximately 25mm in diammeter, reducing to approximately 10mm after that.

It will easily move through rain water pipe, as well as 40 or 32mm sanitary waste.
