Not easy to fit. Required plenty of expertise with a wooden mallet and chisels..certainly not for the average Diy-er. Oval shaped recess required for the section that goes under the faceplate. The main recess required is an odd shape of oblong/tubular .Really time consuming to fit.
And then when you have finally fitted the whole ghastly thing.... the spring..doesn`t spring smoothly !
Which leaves you with a door cut for this individual latch. Not good at all.
Disappointing item from a well known manufacturer.

I fitted two of these latches to two brand new solid oak doors. The lock comes with both brass and satin chrome fittings.
The only problem I had was that these appear to be 1 inch locks and SF only sell 25 mm augers and flat bits. I found that by using the auger to drill they initial hole (better for drilling in a straight line than the flat bit) and then using the flat bit and wriggling it up and down a bit I got a hole that the lock slid into nicely.
The return spring seems to be strong enough ( I've fitted these locks with double spring handles and the combination may be a little too sprung but time will tell).

Excellent product good quality and finish. Brass and satin finish included is great idea.
At 102mm long (80mm plate to hall) it does make it harder to install but it is worth it for that all important period look. if you are fed-up scraping your knuckles every time you open this door then this latch may be the answer.
