Dorgard Fire Door Retainer Red
Dorgard Fire Door Retainer
We bought this item for our Canteen Kitchen's Main door. The door had to be kept open but was a Fire door. The Dorgard Fire Door Retainer was a great purchase for us as it provided a cheap and effective solution for what could have caused us a great deal of problems.
There were some teething issues, with the noise levels in the kitchen causing the Dorgard to close on a number of occasions. But after I adjusted the sensitivity of the Dorgard this problem was soon resolved.
The Dorgard comes with Base plates which can be used if the floors are too slippery for the Dorgard to grip on. This was fantastic as we were also having that problem keeping the door open. But after we fitted the baseplate the door has stayed open.
The Dorgard Fire Door Retainer is an inexpensive and efficient product and I thoroughly recommend it.

Convienient way to comply
Fire regulations stop you wedging doors during working hours and wiring in a magnetic system after the installation has been completed would create havoc and cost so this was an easy way to solve the problem. Easy to fit and worked first time. Good price and same as from the manufacturer. Lets see if the batteries last 6 months like they suggest!?

A good product. Works well, except when noisey trolleys etc, pass by and release the door, as it is triggered by sound. Plays an electronic sound when the battey is going flat. Some people can't work out where the sound is comming from and don't realise it is the Dorgard.

Dorgard hold open device
This is a very clever way of providing the means to hold open a Fire Door in a safe way, without spending hundreds of pounds having a magnetic device hard wired to your fire alarm system, but the door can still close in seconds when the Fire Alarm sounds.
They cost less than £100, take minutes to fit rather than hours or days with a hard wired system and don't involve damaging the decoration and can be fitted by anyone with a bit of savvy.
This is one of those magic solutions which crop up occasionaly in the way WD40 did years ago.
