Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Product I bought this extractor as I am renovating my elderly Mother's bungalow whilst she is still living in it, so needed to keep dust to an absolute minimum whilst sanding and drilling. The unit is really easy to manoeuvre, with both bigger wheels at the back to enable it to be tipped like a barrow and wheeled, but also smaller ones at the front so it's really easy to push and pull around when using as it rolls around on all 4 wheels. The extract side works a treat, but word of warning, it takes so much out, you will need to get extra bags very quickly. I just leave it on full power, but this is adjustable to your needs if you don't need that much suction. The unit has an outlet on the front, which is not only handy as you only then need one outlet for the extractor, and you then plug your sander in to it, but it also enables the extractor to automatically start and stop when your power tool does, so saves you having to keep switching it on and off. There is a time delay in the off function, so if you are using your tools, perhaps a drill, sporadically, it won't keep cycling. I found this whole function really useful, especially when up a ladder sanding. Hose is a really good length, and fitted my Dewalt sander perfectly. Power lead is also a good length. When using it you will hear it almost "banging" occasionally. This is the unit back venting to blow the dust from the filters to stop it clogging. A great touch to stop you having to keep clearing them. In all, the difference between using and not using this whilst sanding is absolutely astonishing. With the first go I was amazed at just how much this thing takes out, and when looking in the bag was also amazed at how fine the dust was. Given that this would have all been in the air, I was very pleased to see it in the bag. Yes it is expensive, and maybe there are similar products for less, but as for this one, I couldn't be happier, and with regards to sanding, it enables you to easily control the dust in an occupied property, providing you have a suitable sander (dust extract holes in the pads). 11 Aug 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by You get what you pay for To see how effective the DWV902M was with my DWS780, I put a black sheet up behind the saw and made 10 cuts through old decking boards (140mm x 28mm), cutting them up for fire wood. With the DWV902M attached there was very little dust behind the saw, however when I disconnected it, it was a mess and the air was full of fine dust. It is a very expensive dust extractor and but like everything – you get what you pay for. 23 Jun 2015

Hello, you won't need to use dust bags for the DWV902M if you're extracting dry materials.

No you can use it without a dust bag. However I wouldn't recommend using it without a bag for very fine dust. Very fine dust gets lodged in the filters and takes some getting out. What I have done is carefully on-fold one of the ends of the bag to empty it. Once empty fold it closed again and use 2 bulldog clips to keep it closed. It works a treat and saves a packet!
