Rated 4 out of 5 by what a impact *** good bit of kit really happy with it Brought this impact driver due to price but have found it to be a great bit of kit has more than enough power to do all that I need and more have not yet had this unit struggle to drive in any thing including 4 inch 12 screws and doing up bolts well happy if this lasts as long as the drill I had from them would give it 5* for all 22 Sep 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The best impact driver Good tool really sends screws in and out of timber easily. the impact action prevents slipping even when using cross head screws ( apparently invented by the US motor industry to stop workers shearing square drive screws by designing a screw which will slip before shearing.) The problem I have with it, it is very fast and takes some getting used to, it is all too easy to drive a screw straight through chip board.Hence the 4 star score I real like the strong magnet on the side where spare bits can be stored. 20 Sep 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant Why have I never had one of these little beauties before? It seemed an extravagance but has made such a simple task of removing and fixing screws that I feel it has paid for itself already in my current job. Together with a set of Dewalt impact driver bits and a half price trade box of TurboGold screws I am now set up. 16 Sep 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Impact driver Does a good job, occasionally too good, you need to be careful using it, as it's so powerful it can snap screws and bits easily if you're not careful. That aside it is a revelation in use, you will wonder how you got by with an ordinary cordless drill for tightening screws etc... 7 Sep 2016

Hi There,
Yes these batteries are perfectly fine for the impact driver, the only reason for bigger Ah batteries are to give you longer runtimes, so people that will be using the tools for very long periods of time get get the best runtime between charges.

Hi There
As long as your 18V 1.3Ah batteries are the slide pack XR Li-Ion batteries then yes you will have no problems with these fitting the DCF886 Impact Driver.
The only thing you may require if you are using the Impact Driver for long periods would be to get a bigger Ah battery for longer runtimes.

With a drill you need to buy a bit set to actually achieve anything.
Do I need that with an impact Driver?

It clear states that it uses a 1/4" hex chuck, but is that actually just the standard hex screwdriver bit, and thus I can use any of the numerous interchangeable screw bits that I have lying around from other tools?

If it needs a specific set of bits, then do you have recommendations?

Hi There
You can use any standard hex bits but due to the power of the Impact Driver then they might not last that long. For use with an Impact Driver I would recommend 7045F as these bit are heat treated and hardened to be able to handle the high torque from an Impact Driver.
Bits designed for an Impact Driver on average last over 5 times longer than standard screwdriver bits.

Hi There
the charger is Screwfix code 47494 which will work on all DEWALT XR Batteries.
If you don't already have any batteries or the charger that fit this impact driver then i would suggest going for either 54144 (2 x 2.0Ah battery version) or 10049 (2 x 5.0Ah Battery version) as these product will have 2 batteries and the charger with them and would work out cheaper than buying them individually.
