Rated 4 out of 5 by from Garage roof Used this paint to try and stop my corrugated cement board garage roof from seeping through water onto my car. Had to clean all the vegetation and moss off first, five hours to do, left the roof to dry overnight and then started. I used a 3 inch paint brush to put on due to the corrugations, went on ok, just making sure it was covering all the little indents in the roof for the first coat to fully seal it. Took me 4 hours to do a standard size garage roof. Hopefully the second coat will be quicker to put on as it will be smoother. Yet to have any rain to see if it stops the water coming through, so only 4 stars for that side. Will update when it does rain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your time. I bought this product last summer to protect the back and side of a summer house that once assembled access would be restricted, thinking job done with 2 coatsit will be many years before I need to do that again. WRONG. After just one winter it washed off exposing the timber underneath. Just finished painting again with another product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black and Sticky I've used other bituminous roof treatments in the past and they tend to be thicker which make them more suited to filling cracks in the surface. However, the less-viscous nature of this product makes it easier to apply. I've given my flat roof 2 coats, about 24 hours apart. The first coat was still a bit sticky when I applied the second. It is horrible stuff to work with, but that's to be expected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from now not as described This Cementone BITUMINOUS paint has been replaced by a "Bostic" version. The new product is non-bituminous and states - not to be used around tar / bituminous products. Therefore no use for repairs on areas with the old reliable products. Sorry Screwfix, poor show. Am returning product for refund.

bitumastic paint?

Is this "bitumastic paint"? Is it suitable to coat steel beam on exterior wall?
Asked by: wilba2
The Bostik Cementone Bituminous Paint Black is a solvent based bitumen paint designed for application to materials such as wood, concrete and metalwork in suitable exterior applications. The product can be applied to a steel beam in general to provide a waterproof coating. However although the product is waterproof, ( which will stop liquid water ingress, it is not damp-proof so it will allow water vapour molecules to pass through. Consequently the beam will require periodical maintenance to account for this. If the application is not accessible when in service, then the product will not be suitable in such a case.

Hi, a review on here suggests this has been replaced with a "bostik" type, is this true? Does it have any bitumin in it?

Asked by: Griff84
Thank you for your recent enquiry relating to our product. I can confirm that our product packaging has changed but the product inside has not. Instead of the name Cementone Bituminous Black Paint the name is now Bostik Bituminous Black Paint and appears in dark blue packaging to match the rest of our weatherproofing range. I can confirm that this is a solvent bituminous black paint. I trust this information helps.

can this product be used on an asbestos garage roof

Asked by: kunn
Thank you for your recent enquiry relating to our product. I can confirm that our Bituminous Black Paint can be used on asbestos roof sheeting. However, due to the nature of the surface we would recommend you either prime the surface with a bitumen primer or a diluted coat of the black bitumen paint. I hope this information helps.

Would this work from concrete to osb wall as a waterproof barrier before being cladded

waterproofing new timber frame building on a concrete slab.
Asked by: stew90
The Cementone Bituminous Paint Black is a solvent based bitumen paint designed for exterior waterproofing applications to surfaces such as wood including OSB, concrete and metal. The product does not have any gap filling properties and whilst it will stop liquid water ingress, it does not stop damp as such. In general It is not designed for interior use due to the solvent smell and once dried because it is bitumen, most adhesives, sealants and paints are not suitable for applying to it.

Can this be used to paint retaining wall to water/damp proof it?

Space between wall and facing soil will then be backfilled with type 1 (crashed concrete)
Asked by: Bob2016
Thank you for your recent enquiry relating to our product. I can confirm that our Bituminous black waterproofing paint can be used in your application. It is worth advising that this is not a damp proofing product but it is a waterproof coating. when used as you propose we would recommend protecting the coating with a fibre board to ensure the waterproof coating is not damaged when back filling. I trust this information helps.
