Philex Data Cable CAT 5E UTP 100m Beige
Another dodgy Philex product
I bought a 100-metre coil of this cable and I make up a fair number of CAT5e - RJ45 cable assemblies.
I noticed straightaway that the 8-cores were tricky to get in the plug compared to other CAT5e batches. Testing confirmed that one core was open circuit. When measured with a micrometer, the brown-white core was significantly thicker than the other cores (1.20-mm diameter compared to between 0.90 and 0.96). The brown-white was too thick for the core guides and hadn't got as far as the contacts.
This is poor quality cable and if you have a reputation to keep, don't use it. You might be lucky and get away with it or have an application where this core doesn't matter.

Fairly typical solid core cat5
Seems fairly typical so far. Solid core, so be careful how often you bend it. It's just a coil of cable, so it takes a bit of extra handling to keep it usable and not get all tangled up. Used ~30M of it so far in a single run and it's sustaining the network traffic with no link errors.

I guess u get near what u pay.
Not being on a real is not an issue, just needs to be handled with care and rebound after use. Product works fine, although only tested on a 12m distance. Key issue for me is the solid cable seems very brittle, bits broke off just untwisting the pairs, and both the core and outer sheathing seem thinner and poor compared to previous cheap cables used. It is very fiddly to get the cables into the Rj45 plugs they do not untwist easily and will not straighten out , my RJ45 connectors would not work with this cable, but they were fine on other solid core cables...I have used this for socket to socket connection, and use a patch cable for the RJ45 connection, this suits me, buy if this is all you need. I would not recommend for patch cables or RJ45 connection. In short, pay more and get better a better quality cable.

This cable is a solid core not strands.
The RJ45 connectors on sale from screwfix pack of 10 and 100 are for stranded type of cable so be aware when buying all you need to wire your home network.
I have now tried to make 6 connections all not working because I bought the wrong parts from the one place.
I now need to buy more crimps to re make all of the ends with solid wire type.
DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE.
