Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad Socket Everything is good about this product apart from reliability of test and reset buttons. All have gone within 4 months. Best get another brand with better quality parts

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good solid product Great value yet feels solid and well made. With RCD in this case for further safety.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality product Installed one of these on an external garage wall, it was letting in water within months and the RCD had gone less than a year later. Replaced it with a standard IP rated socket (as the circuit is already covered by an RCD). These BG sockets may be cheap but the quality of the waterproof seal is garbage. If price is important and the circuit you are installing it on already has RCD protection, use a standard IP rated BG socket. If you must have RCD protection at the socket, splash out and buy an MK masterseal, otherwise you will be replacing it every year if it is exposed to the weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why pay more Are they as bullet proof as a product twice as expensive? Perhaps not. But don't pay more. These do the job and do it well. Also, If you aren't in a hurry, watch for the frequent sales on these too and get an extra bargain.

Will this switch accommodate a transformer plug?

Looking to use this for outside lights at Christmas time and want to know if a plugtop transformer will still allow the lid to close
Asked by: Calumski
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. This BG Nexus 13A 2G RCD Switched Socket is housed inside a standard enclosure which has been designed to accommodate average sized mains plugs, it is not designed to accept any adaptor style plugs.

Is the RCD on this unit active or passive (= latched/unlatched)?

Asked by: Boothby51
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. The socket in this weatherproof product has a mechanically latched RCD circuit, so it is Passive.

BG Nexus 13A 2G RCD Switched Socket. Does the wiring need to go to the back of both sockets or are they connected internally, so only one socket needs wiring thanks

Asked by: PLEW
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. The RCD protected double socket is a single unit so only has one Live and one Neutral terminal to wire to. There are also two linked Earth terminals for flexibility, but only one needs to be connected in order for both sockets to be Earthed.
