Bailey Steel-Jointed Drain Rod Extension Set 3.65m
Good price, great quality
I didn't need drain rods. I needed a flexible pole from which to fly some windsocks for a Japanese festival. It was 7pm and the only other place open was selling a set of 10 red drain rods for an eye-watering sum. Screwfix came to my rescue with this elegant booster set of 4. Worked a charm and was far easier on the wallet. It even looked smarter. Friendly, amused, service from my local Screwfix depot in Leeds Gelderd Road.
It just goes to show, sometimes you can't guess how a product is going to be used.
And if my drains are ever blocked, this'll save me a packet on a call-out!

Did the job no problems
Needed them for a blocked drain and they assembled without any issue to extend the normal set by another 12 feet, went round bends and shifted the blockage. Couldn't ask for more

I got the Bailey Blues :-(
I bought the Bailey Blue rods (comes with 3 tools and carry case for an 'amazin' price of £25.49,a few days ago, wish I'd bought two sets (hindsight pffff !!) as here the same set is going for £39.99).
Unfortunately, I needed to extend ASAP and was not willing to wait for the 2-5 day supersaver delivery (hint hint !) as the weather will turn a lot colder next week; so I bought this item as I was impressed with my other Bailey Rods.
Don't get me wrong, these are fine rods, well made but not as heavy duty as the Blues which are made of thicker walled tubing.
As I was rodding a silted up clay rainwater drainpipe it was heavy going, the blues being more rigid, could be powered through, but these black rods flexed a lot more which was a little worrying for me as I have never used rods before today, so I attached them to the back after the more rigid blue rods.
But having said that these black rods are very sturdy, as I was using them at the back end, the maximum torque was being applied to them and there were no mishaps or failures.
I feel that the extension sets are expensive per rod compared to a set with tools, although this set was compatible with my blue rods, it is a shame that Screwfix don't stock a Bailey Blue rod extension set even though they do sell the full Blue Rod Set !!
