How do I open the hinge to fix it no instruction supplied?

Asked by: Dcky1
It is quite straightforward. My description takes longer to read than to do. Tension is adjusted by turning the hex socket at the top of the barrel and it is locked in place by the grub screw at the back. Remove the grub screw holding the tension with the other key. Now let go. All tension will be released. Also you will be able to see that the cylinder under the large hex can be removed (it can drop out) not a problem. The cylinder has a cut in it which locates over the spring in the barrel and four holes into which the grub screw can fit. Fit the hinge. Replace the barrel. tighten to the required tension using the large hex. Make sure you can see a hole aligned for the grub screw and replace the grub screw. (If you screw the grub screw too much it will go right through and drop into the barrel. Remove hinge turn upside down and shake mechanism until it comes out).

adjusting Eclipse door closer hinges

got many of these in HMO - with an allen key how can I get them to close the door ?
Asked by: jonboy1622
Simple Spring Tensioning The hinge is fitted in the traditional way and only once the door is decorated do the hinges need to be tensioned. The tensioning is performed by putting a hexagon key, which is supplied, into the top of the hinge knuckle and rotating the spring. Once the desired tension is achieved a fixed pin is placed through the knuckle and into the spring barrel.
