Rated 4 out of 5 by from DOES A GREAT JOB I have used this product to prime over sanded old gloss paint and it sticks really well before re painting with a water based gloss. I also used it to cover some dark red paint on a wall before going magnolia and it did a great job. The value for money is exceptional and the only improvement would be for it to get out of the tin and apply itself. Very pleased with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Undercoat Does just what I wanted it to do, that is use as a coat of paint before applying top coat.commonly known as an undercoat. It goes on the brush it dries quickly and I can apply a top coat to it, that's just what I wanted to use it for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's not called one coat.. No bad paint but i just used on interior van panels, as undercoat, did some pre-sanding/filling on wood - have needed to use about 4-5 coats, well, it's not called 'one-coat' for a reason. Get what you pay for - low vocs which was good tho

is this suitable to paint on plywood before tiling?

Asked by: smurf69steve
Hello smurf69steve. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the use of the product prior to tiling. I would recommend that you check with the manufacturer of your tile adhesive for their recommendations on preparing bare substrates for tiling. Thanks

can this be used on outdoor gas and electric boxes

Hello PIPS101. This product would not be suitable for these. you will need to use a more specific adhesion promoting primer. Thanks

can i paint over this with a teak stain?

I am currently preparing my facias to paint, and plan to use this undercoat, will it be ok to then use a teak stain on top of this? DIY Novice, Thanks
Asked by: Gavinmc45
Hello Gavinmc45. you cannot use this product prior to using a woodstain. firstly the product will reduce the absorbency of the wood, which the stain needs in order to grip and therefore dry properly. it will also dry opaque, whereas stains in comparison are translucent. Therefore using a primer will obliterate the wood surface and therefore affect the finish of the stain. Woodstains must be applied directly to bare wood in order to work effectively. Thanks

Smelly paint blocker

I have been advised that I need an alkali resistant sealer for my walls to cover a bad smell from defective paint. Would this be suitable and block odours from the previous paint on the wall?
Asked by: CHubbard
Hello CHubbard. This product being water based will not be suitable to hold back odours from bad smelling paint. You must use an appropriate alkali resisting primer as you have been advised. Thanks
