Hilka Pro-Craft 250kg Electric Hoist
I had some large webjoists to get to the first floor - 16 feet up. I already had a block and tackle, but I was in Screwfix and thought I would go for the hoist. For £100 it was worth a punt. I am very impressed. I used the hoist all day and into the night, lifting joists of 130Kg. The speed is just about right, the controls reliable and it never cut out or appeared to strain. I think it saved me about 3 hours over using the block and tackle. The wire from the control switch could be longer - if you are hoisting from the ground to 10M, then you would have to have a platform at 7M to reach the controls. If using from scaffolding, then a long wire could be a nuisance. Overall, a great purchase.

Excellent device for getting heavy materials and equipment to upper floors in my self-build - often working alone, with a wooden cradle can lift 2.4 x 0.6 floor boarding to loft. Only criticisms - the power lead is very short; and the control unit could also be on a slightly longer lead, otherwise difficult to reach if the hoist is in the apex of the loft.
