I thought Bakelite was obsolete.
- Well so it may be, but these are moulded out of stuff which is equally as brittle. I had one in my parts kit in the van, I got it out and found it had a broken latch. Chucked that one, bought another. Pushing out a cable break-out, it shattered, leaving me with a second dudd..
Why not use some tougher plastic? This is rubbish.

Casing is extremely brittle and fragile. Tighten fixing screws at your peril.
Cable fixing screws are prone to stripping.
Overall, not a good service block at all. A better bet is to buy a Henley or MK one and leave these on the shelf.

The plastic case is very fragile; the fixing lugs for the lid were broken. Found the top (rear) terminal difficult to wire, you have to feed the 25mm cable in a straight line as the terminals are very tight fit and if one strand is slightly of centre it would not fit. Have to be very careful when drilling out the holes for the cable to go through as its splinters and crack, very bad quality considering it house the main tails.
