Manrose MF100 W 100mm Mixed Flow Fan
Good value replacement/upgrade
Fortunatly this was one of the few instock. This was to replace a smaller one in the loft that came as part of a kit. Nice solid mounting, wiring connection was easy. Choice of two speeds but I rekon speed 1 is prob twice the speed of the little one. Some one reviewed with a timer but this model doesn't have one. I was a little dissapointed but however you don't need one as it clears steam and vapour very quickly. Certainly before you have got dried.

Condensation Trap so beware!
Installed one of these about 3 years ago at home so I've seen it's true use.
Good Points: The extraction rate on this is so good, I have a large shower enclosure and with this running on the high speed it clears it in under a minute after using the shower.
Now the really bad point: Installed this as per the manufactures guidelines (nice straight lines on the tubing, slopes etc.# so in the summer this works a treat, do get a bit of vibration now and again, but nothing major. However once the winter comes the rugby-ball shape of the unit #which allows for a larger fan# works against it and after maybe a weeks worth of showers condensation starts to form in the main unit and it keeps building up #you can hear it when the unit is switched on/off a little rattle starts# Once this starts to build up water gets whirled around inside the unit like a washing machine. This now causes 2 issues, 1st is the unit is not totally airtight, so water gets forced out of the unit, so now you have water in the loft, 2nd is if this water freezes the blades will stick and the motor will blow #thankful I've not let it get that bad#.
So I have the pipes to/from the unit insulated with foil-backed insulation and the unit is wrapped in insulation #this has stopped it freezing but not causing condensation#. Spoke to Manrose and got the "is it installed correctly, is it insulated etc." but no useful solution from them.
So once a week during the winter I have to take the unit apart and using a large syringe and pipe, draw the water out of the unit #most weeks about 50ml of water).
Now I do allow the unit to run on for 20mins after each shower and I even just let it run every other day in the evening even when the shower has not been used, but still I get this condensation problem.
Next issue is the electrics box that sits on the top of it, this is all nicely rubber sealed, but as the unit is drawing steam into a cold loft, the whole unit is condensating, so I opened the electrics box the other day and found it full of condensation, so the whole wiring unit was covered in water, so I've taped up the connectors to try and keep the water off it, but I think the best bet is to remove the cover and let it breathe.
So my advice is yes this extractor draws at a crazy fast rate and on that point it's the best bathroom fan I've used, but it can fill up with water, so if you buy one, beware of this or if you have one, go and check it in the winter as you may not be aware that it's full of water or even leaking water into your loft.

EARLY DAYS YET
Bought to replace an in-duct fan of a different make that only lasted 4 months. A fan to clear a bathroom of steam that shorted out due to water/condensation on the circuit board, when it was specifically sold for that purpose! What's that all about. An electrician friend recommended the Manrose model and the reviews looked ok.
Very pleased with the speed of delivery. Email updates on order progress. Ordered at 6.50pm one day and arrived early afternoon the next . Even got a text advising approx delivery time. Came in its own product box rattling round in a bigger box without any protective packing in between, but doesn't seem to have suffered from that.
Fitted and working shortly after. Looks fairly robust and have to say that it was much easier to connect up than the brand x one. Has little idiot labels to show where the respective wires go so no chance of going wrong. Feedback system forced me to enter a value against RELIABILITY, but unfair to comment on really as not been using it for long enough so went for a middle-of-the-road one. No noisy motor; only fan noise from the vent above the shower. I suspend the fan from an attic beam by wires so there is no chance of enhanced noise or vibration in the ceiling, and it also puts a nice slope on the flexi-tube to remove the chance of water lying in dips.
Overall, fairly painless for a first Screwfix purchase so won't hesitate to use them again. As an add on, my electrician friend said their prices are good and I compared against another well known company and he was right.
